September Book

Now is the time to start reading the book for our September meeting! The Candmakers by Wendy Mass is  a captivating book and  a recipient of  the Sunshine State Young Readers Award for 2013-2014.

"Four children have been chosen to compete in a national competition to find the tastiest confection in the country. Who will invent a candy more delicious than the Oozing Crunchorama or the Neon Lightning Chew?"

East Lake Book Buddies Preview

This past Thursday, I gave East Lake Elementary a preview of the Book Buddies program at Meet the Teacher.  I set up a booth in the cafeteria to spread the word. I handed out flyers and had a sign up sheet to receive more information. I received an amazing response with a full page of email addresses interested in the program. As students showed interest in the program, they decorated a book buddy and posted it on the board. With all of the interest in a East Lake book club, I am working on organizing three different clubs; one at school and two in near by neighborhoods.
