This past Thursday, I gave East Lake Elementary a preview of the Book Buddies program at Meet the Teacher. I set up a booth in the cafeteria to spread the word. I handed out flyers and had a sign up sheet to receive more information. I received an amazing response with a full page of email addresses interested in the program. As students showed interest in the program, they decorated a book buddy and posted it on the board. With all of the interest in a East Lake book club, I am working on organizing three different clubs; one at school and two in near by neighborhoods.
Book Buddies is a program designed to encourage children in grades 3-5 to read for pleasure. Book Buddies is a one stop shop for starting a book club. A step-by-step guide to start a book club, book ideas and activity plans can be found on this site. It follows book clubs in the Central Florida area.
